Carer Respite

The Carer Respite service offers day relief for carers who are supporting someone with a mental illness and/or an intellectual disability.

The person you care for can attend a day centre or receive support in your own home while you have the time and space to take care of your day-to-day tasks.

How we can support you

We recognise that being apart from the person you care for can be difficult. Carers often have feelings of guilt, while the person they care for may experi- ence anxiety.

Our service has been developed to make the experience for carers and the people they care for as positive, relaxing and refreshing as possible.

Whether you require respite in a time of a crisis or an emergency, or you simply need a break from your role as a care giver... you will feel reassured knowing that the person you care for is in a comfortable, safe environment while receiving the highest quality care and enjoying the company of others and learning new skills:

  • Social interaction
  • Recreation
  • Computer training
  • Culinary training
  • Life skills such as banking and budgeting

Other organised activities include:

  • Movie days
  • Indoor sports
  • Book discussions
  • Music
  • Art Therapy

The service is available for:

  • Carers of people with a mental illness
