Indigenous people traditionally have strong family bonds; however, in many communities, those bonds can be strained by inadequate access to basic services and support.
For those families who are also impacted by mental illness, the strain can be overwhelm- ing and often contributes to the breakdown of family units and disconnection within the community.
The Gumargai Indigenous Family Support Service aims to ease the pressure placed on families and communities by supporting Indigenous people to access culturally appropriate services and activities in their area.
